Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that this email finds you well and that you have had a healthy and enjoyable summer with your families. Throughout this summer, the Lake Geneva School District has been busy at work preparing for an effective return to school this fall. At our July board meeting, the Lake Geneva School District approved the Lake Geneva Schools Reopening Plan. This document was shared with families on July 23rd from Dr. Gottinger, and it is also attached to this email as a reference.
In order for us to effectively prepare for this fall, we will be opening online student registration on July 31st. The registration window will be open from July 31st - August 12th. We ask that all families complete registration during this time to allow us to accurately plan for student educational programming.
When registering your child, you will be asked to select the learning programming you wish your child to participate in beginning in September. As a parent/guardian, these will be your choices:
Five Day, All Day In-person Education: your child will return to school for in-person learning, Monday - Friday. Guidelines will be in place, as described in the Lake Geneva Schools Reopening Plan.
All Virtual On-line Education: If chosen, students at LGMS will attend classes following the same schedule as if they were in-person, but at home with the use of their Chromebook. Attendance at the scheduled time of each class will be required as the teacher will be live streaming the class. The same grading, attendance and evaluation format will be used for virtual students as those attending in-person. At LGMS, some classes will not be available online. Those classes are: Band, Orchestra, and Choir.
Blended Education: Students attend many of their classes in a virtual environment and then take classes not available in an online format in-person. Families of students will have to provide their own transportation depending on when the in-person course(s) they desire are offered during the school day.
Maple Park Charter School Education: this program helps parents set up a homeschool program in which curriculum is provided by Lake Geneva Schools.
Also attached to this email are the directions for on-line registration. Additionally, we will have on-site registration on August 10 from 2:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and on August 11 from 8:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. for those who may need assistance with registration, need English-Spanish translation assistance, purchase PE t-shirts (optional for the 20-21 school year), and/or pay registration fees. We will also be having student pictures taken on those days. If unable to attend, picture make-up will be during the school year, and the LGMS office will be open from 8:00A.M.-12:45 P.M. if you need additional assistance.
We thank you, in advance, for your assistance in the registration process, as this information is critical to effectively preparing for the start of the school year. This year, more than ever, we are going to need to work together, as a team, to support our students, teachers, and families. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we are confident that our teamwork will bring success to our students and our school community. Once we finalize student placements, we would anticipate communicating to families about student schedules by August 26th.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out and contact me with questions.
Sincerely,
Anne Heck
