October 3, 2017 - Mr. Ocker took nine Lake Geneva Middle School students to attend the “Sweet 2B Me” conference at Fort Atkinson Middle School on Oct. 3. The students were chosen based on being in 90% in both reading and math map scores and counselors and administrators recommendation. It was a day full of fun, engaging workshops and teambuilding activities that focused on social emotional leadership skills, interpersonal communication and skills, cooperative games as well as social and emotional wellness. Topics included dealing with anxiety, building strong and healthy relationships, being assertive without being bossy, and how to be an advocate for yourself. More than 190 students that were high-achieving seventh and eighth graders from middle schools throughout Southeastern Wisconsin were invited to attend. LGMS counselor Mr. Rob Ocker and Lake Geneva Schools’ gifted and talented coordinator, Mrs. Tami Martin, supported students with the event as part of the gifted and talented program.
